Calculating points
The points are calculated form a formula that takes into accont both sex and age with a
percentage reduction of used time. The percentage reduction is found here.
The corrected time is used to calculate the points achieved. The best corrected time
gets 10 points and a reduction of points is calculated from the time difference multiplied
with a point to time reduction factor. This factor is calculated from a formula where the
mean time of the three best correctedt times multiplied with 2 will result in to a point
reduciton of 10.
Every competitor will get 5 points regardless of time and transmitters found.
This calcualtion is used in the Norwegian national 2m and 80m cups and is built into a
spreadsheet that can be downloaded from this
site as an example.
Short race
The short race is intended for newcomers. The cource is short with easily marked and
positioned transmitters.
Experienced runners will need to complete this cource in a vere short time without any
stops. Post markings are easy to find and good direction and distance estimation is
requiered in order to find the post without having to stop and wait for a transmission.
The competitors are allowed to take bearings in a 5 minute periode before start, and
the start point is within the next 5 minutes at the most optimal starting time which the
runner must try to work out by the inital bearings. |
